Hybrid Automobiles: Benefits of Owning One

Anyone likes the idea of having 50% more mileage per gallon of fuel they pump in to their cars.  This was just wishful thinking a couple of years ago but with the emergence of hybrid automobiles, it is now a reality.  Traditional combustion engine vehicles not only gargle gasoline like mouthwash, they also tend to waste a lot.   

 

Not that you did not notice this before, no.  This was how it was, and continues to be until now.  With people are becoming more familiar with the technology hybrid automobiles offer, they would start to notice the fuel (and a lot of dollars) wasted when the engine idles—it is zero mile per hour!

Not only do you save money on hybrids, you also save the environment by lessening pollution.  Less burned fuel means less carbon dioxide released.   CO2 is directly linked by environmentalists and many scientists to global warming.  You get the thumbs up of a lot of concerned individuals, including the government.

 

The government would love you for your green car it would let you use lanes intended for car pools.

 

Traffic congestion on freeway intersections could be a pain in the neck.  As an incentive to turning green, hybrid automobiles are allowed the use of lanes for high occupancy vehicles or carpool lanes.   How about free parking on downtown meters and city lots.  The government wants to thank you more for patronizing the environment-friendly hybrid automobiles by giving you tax rebates of up to $3,150.00,  depending on how your hybrid model fares in EPA testing procedures.  Note however that this incentive can be good only for the first 60,000 units sold by a particular manufacturer of hybrid automobiles in the country.  Obviously, this is to encourage the market to shift to green cars.

 

You have two power plants under the hood.

 

There are two kinds of hybrid cars, the full hybrid and the parallel hybrid automobiles.  A full hybrid car uses the gasoline engine and the battery-operated electric motor kicks in if you need more speed and power (without gobbling up too much gasoline).  This comes in handy whenever you are passing other vehicles or accelerating on an uphill climb.
